Sarah Chen

Data Editor at OxalateWatch

About Sarah

Sarah is the data editor at OxalateWatch. She curates and verifies the food composition values on the site — oxalate, sodium, calcium, and protein — against the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health oxalate database (2024) and USDA FoodData Central, where every value is traceable to a specific USDA FDC ID. Her work is the reason each food page carries a measured number rather than an estimate.

Background

Before OxalateWatch, Sarah spent over a decade as an editor and data researcher working with nutrition and food-composition datasets, where accuracy checking across large spreadsheets was the daily job. She has a background in data journalism and editorial fact-checking, and she treats a food page the way a fact-checker treats a quote: every number has a source.

Editorial role, not medical professional: Sarah is a data and content editor, not a medical professional. The editorial team at OxalateWatch collects, verifies, and presents published food composition data; we do not provide medical advice. If you have kidney stones or any medical condition, talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian.

Every page on this site is a dietary reference tool. See how oxalate values are measured and verified on our data methodology page.
